The EOS R5C hybrid camera is compact and lightweight, designed for videographers. It supports many of the Cinema EOS features and video formats. You also get many of the EOS R5’s still imaging features. The EOS R5C is a low-cost 8K, 4K and FHD video camera that can be used by amateurs, filmmakers, and journalists. The camera’s stunning image quality is due to the 45 Megapixel full frame CMOS imaging sensor.

Video Specifics

The specs and resolution of the Canon R5C are significantly higher than the Canon R5. Canon has achieved a new level of performance with 8K at 60fps and unlimited recording. The internal fan will allow users to prevent the R5’s overheating. You can record in RAW, Canon RAW Light, and 8K/60P. A full-size HDMI port allows 8K RAW to be output to external recorders. You also get 8K HDR recording (PQ/HLG). DIGIC X processor also supports internal recording, 2K and 4K oversampling, and 4K 120 in 4 :2:2 10-bit. The R5C can do 8K/60P and has Super 35, Full-frame, Super 16 and Super 32 modes.

Design and Body

It may be heavier than the R5, but it has an ergonomic design that is similar to the R5. It is slightly heavier due to the addition of a cooling fan and full-size HDMI port. The LCD screen had to be moved further back. A multi-purpose digital hotshoe will be available, just like the R3. This will let you add accessories such as an XLR audio output. The EVF also has a mounting point for either 3/8″ or 1/4″.

Stills Specs

This camera is a great choice for avid photographers. It’s more video-centric than the R5. The full-frame 45-megapixel sensor still shoots stills at up to 20 frames per seconds. This includes all the AF features that were released with the 1.5 R5 firmware upgrade, including vehicle, face, torsos and eye detection. The R5 firmware update has the same ISO and dynamic range.

Canon celebrates the 10th anniversary its Cinema EOS System. This system includes a variety of lenses and cameras that are designed to offer a single solution for professional filmmakers as well as cinematographers. A new model is a great time to launch a model. The ergonomic EOS R5C is the perfect choice for Canon shooters looking to upgrade, have unlimited 8K video or just love new gear.

C70 Firmware Update

Canon also revealed details about the rumored EOS C70 firmware upgrade, which will include Cinema RAW Light Internal Recording as well as Frame and Interval Recording modes.

Cinema RAW Light can be now captured internallly onto compatible SD cards. The EOS C70 already has the 10-bit XF -AVC, but the 12-bit Cinema RAW Light LT can capture up to 645Mbps. This will result in smaller file sizes and better performance while still retaining the benefits of RAW. Cinema RAW Light can capture 16+ stops dynamic range using the Dual Gain Output sensor. This allows you to grade your footage with the greatest flexibility. RAW HQ will be available, RAW ST will be available, and RAW LT will be available. Each setting will be 12-bit regardless of the frame rate. You can also simultaneously capture Cinema RAW Light or XF-AVC Proxies.

Frame and Interval recording modes make it easy to create stop motion and time-lapse sequences. Frame recording is used for stop motion. Each press of the record button will capture a set number of frames. Interval recording is used to determine the number of frames and the interval between them in time-lapse sequences.
